I have worked for Betsy Robinsons Bridal Collection for almost eight years. Wow. Eight years. I can hardly believe it. In that long tenure I have done just about every job there is to do here. Ive worked the front desk, and sold bridesmaid dresses, and shipped trunk show gowns and checked in veils and bridal gowns. Ive taken a fitting or two, and filmed numerous bustle tutorials. I have written hundreds of blogs and run the social media.

You might have read many of my stories here, and learned about my husband and family and seen my wedding photos year after year. Ive shared my opinions on receiving lines and strapless gowns and Baltimore city. Ive even admitted to not understanding how a bustle works (sorry Betsy).  There are many sides to me just like the many hats I wear, but the one I am often quietest about is the one I want to, and need to talk about now.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and Betsy has allowed me this platform to share my own story and to help raise awareness and funds for those battling.

My Own Breast Cancer Journey

I was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago. I underwent chemo, surgery, and radiation and I worked throughout much of it. On any given day you could see me here sporting a black beanie over a bald head.  You could find me measuring bridesmaids and carrying dresses and smiling through pain. Now you can spot me at the front desk, with a decidedly lopsided figure under a loose blouse. COVID has derailed my plans to get put back together again, but Im still proud of how I look.

Most days I feel like a walking breast cancer awareness ad, but for this month, I have taken it one step farther. Outside of Betsy Robinsons I also spend my time writing, baking, and designing cards, and I have put those interests to good use. I designed a set of six just cuz cards that are bright and fun and whose proceeds go to the Maryland organization, the Red Devils.

The Red Devils provide direct support to patients who are undergoing breast cancer treatment. They help to ease the financial burden and allow patients and their families to focus on what is mot important fighting the good fight.

You can help in that fight by purchasing a set of cards, and there are many ways that you can do it. You can purchase them in our store for $25, or receive them as a thank you gift for making a minimum donation to the Red Devils here. These cards at Necessary Secrets and Found Studio on Harford Road.

Betsy has been extremely supportive through this entire rickety rollercoaster journey, and I am so thankful that she is giving me a space to help others. Lets make good use of it together.
