Feature Betsy Bride of the Week: Missy
Feature Betsy Bride of the Week: Missy
May 08, 2017
For this weeks Feature Betsy Bride Wedding I give you Missy and Mike who were married at the end of April in a beautiful ceremony and reception held at Dulanys Overlook. The couple chose the spot because of the gorgeous outdoor ceremony area, and the bridal suite and man cave facilities on site kind of sealed the deal. I asked Missy to share the details of the big day with us and her excitement pretty much leaps off the page.
Their romance started with a chance meeting at a Dave Matthews Concert, a quick conversation and a phone number. Later it would result in a beautiful proposal In front of the Jarrettsville Pike Sunflower fields, and a family cookout later that afternoon would go from surprise birthday party for Missy to surprise, were engaged!
This all culminated in the beautiful April wedding that Missy describes as breathtaking, romantic and colorful. She drew a lot of her inspiration from her flowers. I really stuck to thinking about what my flowers would look like-and wanted to pick other things to compliment them. For example, I rented
wine barrels knowing it went with the rustic venue but allowed us to place gorgeous vases of flowers on them! I wanted the flowers to pop and hoped for them to be a focal point for the entire day, and they were stunning! Looking at the gorgeous floral table arrangements, the bouquets, the accents all around the reception, its impossible to disagree with her.
Missy chose her Justin Alexander gown for the big day because she wanted a big tulle skirt. I pulled this one and just knew it was it. With the help of her consultant she also chose a lace bolero and beautiful belt that both helped to give her different looks for the ceremony and reception. Its such a simple thing to do, but a quick little costume change can really add a little magic to the day.
And as far as magic goes there was nothing better on the big day than the first look and the private moment between Missy and Mike. Naturally, and as the photos show, she took his breath away and their photographer Anna Grace perfectly captured the emotional moment. Its enough to make anyone reach for a tissue.
Despite all the planning that goes into the big day, each wedding has its own unique set of surprises. For Missy it was a misstep, and a fall. I was very lucky to not break an ankle, the heels immediately came off and my jack roger sandals went on! It was then a great reason to wear my cowgirl boots for dancing at the reception!
I ended my interview with Missy with what I consider the most important question to ask about a wedding: was it the best party youve ever been to? Absolutely 100% yes!!! We have pretty awesome family and friends- having them all together in one place with an 8 piece band and a dance floor- was a dream come true in itself!
Congratulations Mike and Missy!
