On October 11, 2013 at Prallsville Mill in Stockton, New Jersey Bridget Jennings and Matthew Fox were married in a beautiful ceremony that captured the spirit of their love and their personalities. We wish we could attend every wedding, but since we can't, we are so glad that Bridget took the time to sit down and give us all the details of her happy day.
How did you and your fiance meet?
Matt and I met in Philadelphia, PA sharing mutual social circles and sideways glances.
How long have you been together?
April 4th will be our 5 year anniversary!
How did you choose your wedding dress?
I was shopping with a friend and really wanted to try on a strapless tea-length dress by Matthew Christopher. It just so happened that there was a Matthew Christopher trunk show that weekend and the designer himself put
me in the dress I ultimately decided on. It was an amazing experience, and the dress fit every aspect of my personality.
What was your favorite thing about planning a wedding?
My favorite thing about planning a wedding was, as strange as this sounds, focusing on the details. At first it was extremely overwhelming to think of all the little things that needed to get, done but I loved seeing everything come together the day of the wedding.
Your least favorite?
My least favorite was doing the seating arrangements and deciding who was going to be invited. We wanted to keep it relatively small, but Matt and I are the first to be married out of both families and so many people wanted to celebrate with us. In the end I was happy with the amount of people we invited. We were surrounded by friends and family who love us very much.
What made your wedding unique?
My parents are extremely talented people and they wanted to have a wedding that was true to our personalities. They crafted banners that were screen printed with our cartoon faces. We decided to forgo the traditional wedding party and just had Matt's brothers (and my brother) stand with him, and I had a Maid of Honor and a Man of Honor! It was perfect.
What was your favorite part of your wedding?
I have two - seeing Matt for the first time in my dress outside of my parents' house while all our friends and family hooted and hollered inside.
My other favorite moment was during our ceremony. We had a friend do a "reading" but it was actually more like a speech. We lived together for about 3 years in Philadelphia and she was the one that introduced Matt and I. Her family has a tradition that she passed on to us. She asked the audience to hold up their hands and say I Love You in sign language. It was overwhelming and so incredibly powerful to see everyone say I Love You and mean it 100%. I felt so much support in that one moment.
Describe your wedding in 5 words.
Custom, Cozy, Warm, Rustic and Joyful!
What was your first Dance song?
In My life - The Beatles
One thing you're glad you did.
Really glad we did a first look. It allowed us to be able to enjoy our cocktail hour and mingle with our guests which we both wanted to do prior to sitting down for dinner. We didn't want to have to stay away from the party in order to be introduced.
Piece of advice for future brides.
Take your time planning, enjoy yourself and don't stress about the details.
