The Alterations Process
As a service to brides who purchase special order wedding dresses at our salon, we offer in-house alterations. We are here to guide brides through the process of alterations, but we also like to remind them that it is, in fact, a process. Wedding dresses require special care, and they also require adjustments, readjustments, and patience. Brides are certainly not obligated to have their alterations done here, but we hope to have the pleasure of perfecting your dress for the perfect day!
What to Expect in Alterations
Should brides choose to do alterations with us they can expect to have an average of 3 to 5 dress fittings. Our alterations costs are based on what work each wedding dress needs. This means the price varies from gown to gown and from bride to bride. It is important for brides when choosing a gown to discuss with their consultant what to expect from alterations. While it is hard to give an exact cost, they can help brides budget for the upcoming charges.
We generally recommend that brides begin their alterations 6 to 8 weeks prior to their wedding. During alterations it is important that brides remember to bring their shoes and undergarments to each fitting, and they can expect each appointment to last about an hour depending on how much work needs to be done.
During each appointment, brides are paired with a seamstress and a special alterations consultant who is there to help address any concerns, answer any questions, and offer advice on what needs to be done.
Our alterations consultants are also accessories experts. They can help brides find the perfect veil, jewelry, or other accessories to complete their bridal look.
