Shop the Newest Dresses from Watters & WToo This Weekend!

Posted by on May 3, 2017 in Blog

It’s Almost time for Watters Weekend! Ever since I started working at Betsy Robinson’s Bridal, the most highly anticipated weekends have always been Watters’ Weekends. The mood changes, the air electrifies, and we find ourselves reinvigorated by the fact that yeah, we pretty much get to play dress-up all day long. As we unbox the brand new gowns we get excited to see them in-person and up-close. Part of this excitement is because we lay eyes on them before just about every other salon in the country, but it’s also indicative of the aura surrounding Watters.   This coming weekend you can be a part of that excitement by making an appointment for the trunk show. You can count yourself among the very first brides to shop the newest collection of Watters, WToo and Willowby gowns that just debuted on the New York Runway. You may have already begun to stalk them on social media, but you won’t be finding them in stores for some time. That is, except here. This weekend. Not only will you get to see the newest bridal gowns, but you can also shop the newest bridesmaid dresses. You’ll find sequins and floral and vintage throwback elegance with a modern twist.     More than that you’ll find that Watters has something for everyone. They get it. They get bridal and they get brides. From the sandy beaches of a boho wedding to the vaulted ceilings of a grand cathedral, they’ve got the gown to turn heads and take away breaths.   Sometimes finding a bridal gown is an instinctual expedition; you know it when you find it. Watters’ weekends make that experience easy because they provide such a wide variety and such a great selection. From lace and tulle to beading and illusion and from ballgown to fit and flare and all that lies between there are so many looks encapsulated in one magical weekend.   So we invite you to join us this weekend, May 5th-7th to shop the newest gowns and from racks of gorgeous gowns find the one that seems to flutter in the light and call your name. Feature Betsy Bride of the Week: Katelyn

Posted by on May 1, 2017 in Blog

For this week’s featured Betsy Bride wedding we are so thrilled to introduce you to Katelyn and Ryan. You might recognize Katelyn from her days here at Betsy Robinson’s as a sales consultant and a frequent modeler of bridal gowns on our social media sites. It is a pleasure to be able to feature her now in her own Watters gown that frankly, looks made just for her. Its clean lines, its simple elegance, its utterly classic look all compliment Katelyn head-to-toe.       Both the ceremony and reception took place at the beautiful Mt. Washington Mill Dye House on an overcast and rainy April evening. While the rain may have required a last-minute switch to an indoor ceremony it undeniably provided the most beautiful lightening for their photos taken by Aven Love Studios. The pink and orange floral arrangements popped against a backdrop of blue-gray light. The exposed brick of the Dye House walls, the gold flatware, and the bare old-fashioned light bulbs draped from the ceiling all stood out a little more thanks to the cloud-filtered light.     The rain could only soak a few hemlines, but it could not dampen the spirit of the day. All one hundred and sixty-five guests, whether acquainted or not, felt like family under the twinkling lights of the dance floor. The entire wedding had equal parts elegance and whimsy and romance, but it’s chief signifier and highest compliment was that it was fun. It was what all weddings aim to be by embracing all the sentimentality and solemnity of such a momentous commitment by two people while simultaneously simply being a fantastic party. The dance floor was full of energy and no one seemed to ever stop smiling and hugging.     Guests found themselves obsessed with the delicious food provided by Linwoods and the stunning floral centerpieces provided by Dutch Floral Garden. I mean, just look at those blooms! All in all the wedding pulled from the understated simplicity of the Dye House and allowed every detail to stand-out proving once and for all that you don’t need a sunny day to shine.     Congratulations...

The Hottest New Trends from New York Bridal Market

Posted by on Apr 27, 2017 in Blog

Betsy and some of the team have just returned from a whirlwind trip to New York Bridal Market, and there is so much to share with you. New York Bridal Market is a big deal for the world of bridal, but something that most of you have never heard of before. This mega-bridal fashion event held twice a year is essentially where all the biggest names in bridal as well as the aspiring start-ups showcase their newest gowns and accessories and give salons a chance to find their newest stock pieces. It’s a week full of runway shows, couture gowns and trendsetters for the coming year. Betsy always comes back with a million pictures, stories and observations about what the next big thing will be. Here are just a few of the trends that emerged from the week.     Bows Bows and bridal gowns have gone together since practically the beginning of time, but sometimes their presence is felt more than others. This is definitely the year that the bow is back in a big way. It’s the perfect feminine touch that can add equal parts sweetness and drama to a gown. Bows appeared big and small on the fronts, the sides and the backs of gowns. This year brought us crystal bows and silk bows and bows with long trailing trains. In every case they made for a perfectly balanced detail, and one we are eager to see more of.     Detachable Skirts Bridal gowns are big on drama and theater and nothing is more theatrical than a quick costume change. Detachable skirts, which were everywhere this market, fulfill that magician’s-like flare for a gown that is more than it appears. Not only is it dramatic to have a skirt that detaches and transforms the gown into something entirely different, it’s also plainly economical. Who can say no to two gowns in one? The abundance of detachable overskirts satisfies the desire of many brides to have different looks for the ceremony and the reception without having to buy two entire dresses. It’s a great response to the needs and wants of the modern bride and I’m...

Great Things to Look Forward to at Summer Weddings

Posted by on Apr 12, 2017 in Blog

The weather has started to warm up, the sun is shining, the trees are blossoming and wedding season is almost upon us. In just a few short weeks the wedding marches will start to play in full force and brides all over the country will tie the knot. For us here at the salon it means lots of alterations appointments, but for you it’s going to mean signature cocktails and chalkboard signs and lots of dancing. So to get you prepped, here are some great things to look forward to about all the upcoming summer weddings.   Late-Night Food I have yet to go to a wedding where late-night food is served, but I’ve certainly heard about it a lot and the trend is growing more frequent. I love this idea mostly because I love food, but it also makes a lot of sense. Wedding receptions can last hours and after all that dancing, and especially drinking, it’s nice to give guests a chance to refuel before they leave for the evening. Plus, a few trays of French fries or donuts or pizza rolls is a really easy way to make guests feel like they are getting the royal treatment.   Stylish Bridal Parties From grooms and groomsmen in navy suits to tweed blazers and bridesmaids wearing prints and sequins there is plenty of wardrobe fun to watch at weddings these days. I think the creativity is the most interesting part, and I love the way that couples tailor their bridal parties to match their overall theme. I love separates for bridesmaids or mismatched prints, and I love a good patterned tie or sock on a groomsman. I love when couples trade in the old notion of a bridal army in all the same thing to a cohesive group of cool people that you obviously want to get to know.   A Little Place to Lounge Weddings make for great places to catch up with friends and relatives but between the seating charts and the dance floor, it can be hard to find a place to strike up an audible conversation. That’s why I love the lounge idea. I...
