Carolina Herrera

Posted by on Jan 12, 2015 in Blog

Here in Baltimore today the weather is a murky mix of rain and sleet. The sidewalks are coated in ice, and our once beautiful snow has washed away in a muddy mix. Needless to say we could use a little pick-me-up, and what better way to brighten the day than by discussing the extraordinary clean and elegant couture gowns of Carolina Herrera? Carolina Herrera is another in a growing list of designers that we have the pleasure of welcoming to our salon in 2015, and she has been a well-known name in the fashion and bridal world for decades. Her gowns are classic and sophisticated and have a sort of understated quality indicative of self-confidence; they don’t need to be flashy to take your breath away. They also have a great balance of strength and grace. The clean lines are bold, self-assured, headstrong. A bride in a Carolina might find herself taking the aisle in a brisk stride, but then there are the soft details: the satin ribbons, the tiny little bows, the embroidered flowers that are all used sparingly and with purpose. It is these details that just like a little dab of red on the crest of the wave of an ocean painting, placed exactly right, make the whole thing make sense. It’s that little bit of balance that makes the whole thing absolutely perfect.   Welcome Carolina.  ...

Watters, WToo & Love Marley

Posted by on Jan 8, 2015 in Blog

January is always an exciting month in bridal; the new gowns make their way from the runway to the salon floor, a slew of December proposals make for a wave of brides to be, and cold weather gives way to warm hearts. But around here what really makes January exciting is Watters. The January Trunk Show with Watters, WToo and their newest line, Love Marley, is always a big deal.     Part of what will make the Trunk Show, taking place January 16th – 19th, such a big deal is that it gives brides the opportunity to see the new 2015 Collections in person, and boy are there some stunners in there. They’ve got sleeves and illusion necklines and textured laces and tulle skirts and dramatic backs and truly all the biggest current trends in bridal edited and refined in a way that takes them beyond trendy and makes them classic.   Rarely is there in an opportunity to see such variety of style and price from one designer all in one place. See? There’s the reason to be excited; you can find your wedding gown on Watters weekend, and you don’t even have to try very hard. Just give us a call at 410.484.4600.  ...

New Year, New Designers

Posted by on Jan 5, 2015 in Blog

It’s a new year and to start it off right we are so pleased to announce we will now be carrying gowns by two world renowned couture designers: Carolina Herrera and Galia Lahav. Their designs are available exclusively to this region at our salon and we couldn’t be more excited that we get to show them off in the coming year. Today I will focus on Glaia Lahav and give you a look at some of the dresses we will be getting in to our stock in the coming months.     Galia Lahav herself was born in Russia and educated in Israel where the design house is now based. She is a student and teacher of art and channels that love into masterpieces of fashion. Each gown is a work of art that also shows off the beauty and artistry of the female form. Looking at these gowns the first thing that comes to mind is va va voom. I mean, look at them. They are gorgeous, they are exquisite, and they are crafted with nothing but the finest materials.   Galia Lahav dresses enjoy quite a reputation at home and abroad, and it isn’t hard to see why. The detail is extraordinary, and I really appreciate the attention paid to the back of each gown. It ensures that the exit from the ceremony is as memorable and breathtaking as the entrance to the ceremony. It is good to keep in mind that these gowns are couture and handmade works of art, and that they come with a price that reflects that, but what does money have to do with true love : )   Stay tuned for more on Carolina Herrera....

Counting Down to New Year’s Eve

Posted by on Dec 27, 2014 in Blog

The 5 Best Things About New Years Eve Weddings It’s not a very well kept secret that most people wish they could spend New Years Eve the way they do in the movies: fancy dress, nice tux, cocktail in hand, glittering ballroom, and a nonstop party. New Year’s Eve weddings provide all of that and more and that’s why we just adore them. Seriously, who is getting married the 31st who wouldn’t mind a few crashers? So here you are, the top five best things about a New Year’s Eve Wedding.   5. Decked Out I might like to put on a front that buying a new dress and getting dressed up is a hassle, but it’s not. Other people also enjoy this charade, but the truth is, people want to put on something new or sparkly and ring in the New Year in style.   4. Open Bar This is a no brainer. Going out on New Year’s Eve can be expensive, and for the couple the tab might prove pretty expensive, but you’ve earned your treat with your wonderful presents and presence and you can enjoy each bubbly drop of champagne.   3. After the Party It’s the after party. It just keeps going. If the couple have planned it well, and of course they will, then the reception won’t even really get roaring until midnight and once the dance floor closes the hotel bar will provide just the right setting to let the celebrating continue.   2. All Your Favorite People in One Place Ok, maybe not all of your favorite people. But if it’s a close friend or member of your family then it’s pretty close to all of them. You get to see old friends. You get to see distant relatives. You get to dance with cousins and grandparents and feel all warm and fuzzy. It’s the perfect way to spend the holiday.   1. Sounds Like a Plan But the very best thing about going to a New Year’s Eve wedding is that it takes all the pressure off the holiday. You don’t have to agonize over what you are going to do...

Winter Wonderland

Posted by on Dec 22, 2014 in Blog

It’s officially winter and even though it doesn’t quite feel like it, why not celebrate the season? Winter offers so many wonderful opportunities for love and romance and beautiful weddings. Here are four great things about winter weddings. 1. Flannel I think any excuse to wear or use plaid and flannel is a good one, but especially as a nice touch at a winter wedding. Picture the couple wrapped up in a flannel blanket for their outdoor pictures. Cozy and romantic. Or picture the bride with a flannel scarf wrapped around her shoulders. The mix of the rugged flannel with the delicate gown. What could be better? 2. Pine The smell of it. The look of it draped in sweeping garlands over balconies and across doorways. It’s warm and inviting and homey. It makes decorating the hall or venue so simple and it gives that perfect understated elegance effect. 3. Rich Colors Winter weddings lend themselves so well to deep shades and heavier fabrics. A nice velvet or brocade. A deep hunter green accented with white blossoms. Dark mahogany tables. Bowls of red cherries. It doesn’t have to be holiday festive to fit right in. 4. Hot Chocolate Or even better: alcoholic hot chocolate. Oh, and handmade marshmallows. What about a hot chocolate bar? Fresh sticks of cinnamon. Peppermint sticks. I feel warmer already.  ...
